An Argentinean working in Queenstown as a housekeeper has won Auckland Airport’s "I Love Queenstown" photo competition with this stunning shot of paragliders over the city.
Lucas Marin’s entry was one of more than 500 received during the six weeks the competition was open, ranging from wedding shots and family snaps, to professional scenery photographs. They all showed a side of Queenstown you don’t see in the tourist books.
As the winner, Lucas receives a trip for two to Auckland, two nights at the Novotel Auckland Airport and $1000 spending money, plus his photo and the rest of the top 20 shots were displayed in Earnslaw Park for the first few days of the Queenstown Winter Festival.
You may also see them in overseas marketing campaigns promoting Queenstown as an exciting, action-packed destination.
Lucas is an amateur photographer who has another project on the go – taking a shot every day for the next year from the same point up the gondola hill in Queenstown.
