Accommodation support – call 0800 Auckland

People affected by yesterday’s 6.3 Richter scale earthquake in Christchurch are advised to call 0800 AUCKLAND (0800 2825 5263) for accommodation information and support in Auckland.

Christchurch residents and visitors from the South Island in Auckland unable to return home and international visitors with disrupted travel plans may all need somewhere to stay.

The Mayor is calling for Aucklanders to volunteer their homes to accommodate people affected by the Christchurch earthquake. He says it’s an opportunity for Aucklanders to open their homes and offer support.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by today’s earthquake and we will do what we can as a region to help those unable to travel to Christchurch,” says Mr Brown.

Aucklanders can also call 0800 AUCKLAND (0800 2825 5263) to volunteer to host people in their homes.

The i-SITE Visitor Services team of Auckland, Tourism, Events and Economic Development Ltd will manage the process.
