Auckland Airport has been named one of the top on-line communicators amongst New Zealand’s largest listed companies. The airport came second equal in this year’s Wired Best Investor Website Awards which focus on how well a website communicates a company’s purpose, how well it helps users find content and the degree to which it enhances interaction between investors and the listed entity.
New Zealand Oil and Gas took out first place, with Port of Tauranga in second equal place with Auckland Airport.
Last year’s redevelopment of the site obviously impressed the judges. Late last year Auckland Airport’s website underwent a complete overhaul resulting in a new design and improved navigational structure making it easier for website visitors to find their way around.
The awards are endorsed by NZX and are based on a survey of NZX50 company websites, conducted by Wired Internet Group and usability consultant Bruce Russell.
Mr Russell said new means of interactivity, from live web feeds to RSS and podcasting were continuing to ‘up the ante’ in what investors expect from listed companies.
He added that the largest and most liquid listed companies were only just above average, with only three of the NZX 15 making the top 10 in the awards.
