While passengers passed through the new pier and arrivals area of Auckland Airport’s international terminal last night, the engineers, architects and interior designers of the space celebrated it.
The recent expansion of the international terminal - the smart new immigration hall, fabulous new duty free store, and new pier to accommodate the giant A380 aircraft - was awarded two accolades at the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Awards 2009.
An excellence special purpose award was picked up at the Auckland award ceremony, as well as merit green building award for the substantial series of green initiatives incorporated into the building’s design.
A panel of 11 esteemed property experts and leaders judged the awards and the ceremony was attended by more than 700 movers and shakers of New Zealand’s property industry, including Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Bill English. Despite challenging times and the credit crunch, guests celebrated in style with entertainment from the Top Twins and Strike Percussion.
