Auckland Airport welcomes the second announcement within a fortnight by Pacific Blue that it is launching new trans-Tasman services.
Pacific Blue will operate nine return services a week between Auckland and Sydney starting in October.
"We are delighted to see Pacific Blue further expanding its trans-Tasman services," said Auckland Airport chief executive, Don Huse. "Pacific Blue is the first low-cost carrier to operate on the Sydney sector, which is the largest single international route on offer from Auckland Airport. This announcement is yet more evidence of Pacific Blue's confidence in growing the trans-Tasman market".
The new Pacific Blue AKL-SYD-AKL daily services equates to an additional 168,943 seats on offer each year. Pacific Blue will be taking delivery of another 180-seat Boeing 737-800 next generation aircraft in early September to fly the new route, bringing their total fleet to nine.
