Auckland Airport voted sixth favourite worldwide

03 September 2008

Auckland Airport has been voted sixth favourite airport in the world by the UK readers of Condé Nast magazine.

The Condé Nast Traveller Reader's Travel Awards 2008 (UK) also showed New Zealand as the favourite country in the world amongst its readers.

Auckland Airport chief executive Simon Moutter said, "Auckland Airport is working hard to represent our country, be uniquely kiwi, outstanding and welcoming in all that we do.

"We compete globally and being ranked so high by discerning readers who travel far and wide is really encouraging that we're on the right track.

"This award also acknowledges the contribution of many other organisations that play a role in running the airport - airlines, ground handlers, border agencies, shops, restaurants and cafes," said Mr. Moutter.

Readers vote on cleanliness, design, layout and lounges, pre and post-flight facilities, shopping, food, restaurants, flight information and clarity of signs.

Condé Nast Traveller (UK) is a high end magazine read by 85,000 travellers and many more online. It features travel and destination advice as well as awards and "hot lists". The Reader's Travel Awards allows readers to vote for the best travel the travel world has to offer including airlines, airports, cities, countries, cruise lines, hotels, tour operators, islands and spas. Their Top 100 overall winners are what readers considered the best of the best in the world. Condé Nast also publishers Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ.
