Team chosen to lead design of new combined terminal

22 May 2017

Auckland Airport has selected a specialist consortium to lead the design of the building works that will occur at Auckland Airport over the next ten years. The consortium of Mott MacDonald, Grimshaw, Architectus and Holmes Consulting blends extensive global and New Zealand experience and the architects have a proven record of integrating local cultural influences into their design – something that is important for us as we build a world class airport with a uniquely New Zealand feel.

The consortium’s scope of work includes the design of Auckland Airport’s new domestic jet terminal, the significant expansion of the border processing area for arriving international passengers and our new transport and car parking facilities.

The consortium’s experience covers over 1,000 aviation projects in 120 countries across 260 airports. In addition to specialist experience and knowledge, the consortium’s architects have a proven record of successfully bringing local cultural influence into the fabric of their passenger focused design. This is a significant factor for Auckland Airport as we build a world class airport with a uniquely New Zealand feel.
