Duckling rescue

19 August 2010

These ducklings had a lucky escape after getting trapped in a storm water drain at the airport.

The six black and tan ducklings were the centre of a major rescue operation that involved members of the public, airport staff and the SPCA.

Airport environmental planner Kate Gullery was there to help transfer them into a box after their ordeal.

“They were so cute,” she says. “The mother duck was flying around and went up to the ducklings as soon as they were taken out of the box.”
